Picture

Getting in is hard – this training makes it easier...

Giving people contacts and essential skills…

Tips, techniques and guidance...

So you can be a success!

Television and radio are highly competitive industries – and getting in is tough.

Opportunities come rarely – and when they do you need to grasp them with both hands, and impress from day one.

Certain skills are essential if you’re going to get off to a running start, and keep ahead of the pack.

On this course an experienced TV Series Producer teaches you these skills.

From interviewing for that crucial first job to research skills, from the basics of shooting and sound to how to handle a presenter, these courses will show you exactly what you need to know, and how to do it right.

Course Includes...

  • Contacts, Interview Technique and CV finessing
The first stage of getting a job in the media. It's not just what you know, it's also who you know - or who you could know if you're good at making contacts. This course shows you how to do that. This part of the course also teaches you how to make the most of what you’ve got when writing your cv and your introductory e mail. You get some insider's tips on who to e mail and how to get their e mail addresses. And it shows you what to do and what not to do in job interviews, so you can get your foot on the first rung of the TV ladder.
  • Running and Research Skills
Many people will start in TV or radio as a runner or researcher. Once you get in you need to know how to get on… and be effective and valued in your new job. This section of the course shows you how to make a good first impression as a runner, and do a good enough job to be given more responsibility and an enhanced role. Then you learn about the essentials of being a TV researcher. From sourcing contributors and interviewing them on the phone to organising a shoot and writing briefing notes, there are certain must have skills that you will be expected to have. The Research Skills part of the course trains you up – fast.
  • Development
TV and radio are all about ideas – having them, discussing them, choosing the best ones, writing them up and then pitching them to broadcasters. One in a hundred gets commissioned. The development section of Course 1 takes you through every stage of the process, including how to generate ideas and role playing how to pitch them. You will find out how to improve your hit rate, and maybe even come up with that format that makes you a Millionaire!
  • Production Coordination
Many people start out as production coordinators, and everyone in TV and radio needs to know how to organise and set up a shoot or show. This part of Course 1 teaches you the basics of call sheets and risk assessments, addresses the difficulties of setting up a foreign shoot or broadcast, and how to trouble shoot problems, and anticipate them beforehand…
